On Tuesday, in Savannah, the Benedictine Cadets scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to nip Toombs County 2-1. In the rematch, at Jacky Jones Field in Lyons, the Cadets scored three times in the first inning and five more runs in the third to sweep the Bulldogs with an 8-5 Region 2 victory. Benedictine is the only 4-0 team in the region. The Bulldogs fall to 1-3.
Benedictine scored two earned runs in the first inning and one unearned. Then the Bulldogs bounced back in the the second. Cole Graham and Dalton McBride each doubled. Trey Cloud drove in a run with a grounder, Noah Anderson singled in a run and Chandler Lynn brought a Dawg in with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 3-all.
The Cadets went back to work in the third inning and stroked three singles and a double. Bulldog pitching walked three batters in the inning as Benedictine took an 8-3 lead.
Toombs finished the game scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh. Bryce Deloach, Chandler Lynn and Brock Harrison each singled to open the frame with Harrison driving in the first run. Martin Stephens walked to load the bases and Graham drove in the second run with a ground out to first base.
