TCMS basketball teams earn 1st road victory as both improve to 4-0

The road is a lot different than playing at home. The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams learned that lesson in a rematch with Collins at Collins. In Lyons TCMS swept the Bobcats with a 33 point win in the girls game and 14 in the boys game. In a jam packed Collins gym, in their first road action of the season, the Lady Bullpups won 39-31 and the Bullpups 39-26.

K.K. Mobley, who led TCMS with 17 points, was in foul trouble in the first half and she only scored a first quarter bucket. However, in the second half she turned on the defensive pressure without committing a rash of fouls and she scored eight points in the third quarter and seven in the fourth. Ziahaya Griffin added 10 points, Brandi Sharpe went 3-for-4 at the free throw line and she scored 7 points, Trinity Robinson added 4 and Howard 1.

In their home win over Collins, the Bullpups made 13 3-pointers and scored 61 points. In Collins Maleke Day sank two 3-pointers in the first quarter and a half court 3-ball to end the game and that was the only three 3-pointers the Pups hit in the game. Day scored 10 points in the first quarter, two in the second, none in the third and nine in the fourth as he led the team with 21 points. Silas Legrant scored 7, Jashan Powell had 6 and Octavius Roberts 5.
