Special Teams Player of the Year- Rig Tinoco

Rig improved in the eyes of the Region 2 coaches in his senior season after making second team in 2016. In 2016 he missed three extra points (39-for-42) and in his senior season he missed only two (33-for-35 (94.3 %). He made 9-of-17 of his field goal attempts (52.9%)-  Made 26, 27, 28, 28, 32, 40, 42, 44 and 50. Missed 35, 37, 39, 41, 42 (blocked), 43, 45 and 47. Rig was also a weapon on kickoffs whether he was booting them deep or short and he was successful on two onside kicks against Screven County and one against Benedictine.

Co-Defensive Player of the Year- D.J. Matthews

D.J. Matthews (#42) opened his senior season with a big hit on the East Laurens QB

Last year D.J. Matthews was a first team All-Region 2 fullback. This year the coaches selected him as a co-defensive player of the year. Matthews started every game at linebacker and he was one of the red bullets who was constantly around the ball.

First team offense- quarterback- Dalton McBride

Dalton McBride threw 3 TD passes against Fitzgerald and led a comeback against Benedictine with his arm

Last year Dalton McBride was a second team All-Region 2 player. This year he was named first team after helping to lead the Bulldogs to a 10-2 season. McBride was a take charge leader in practice and in game situations. His passing numbers were 46-for-103 (45.0%) for 567 yards and 6 touchdowns and he rushed for 478 yards and scored 8 TD’s.

First team offense- running back- Keshawn Morgan

Keshawn Morgan ran for over 1,000 yards for a second straight season

For the second straight season Keshawn Morgan was a first team All-Region 2 running back. This season his rushing numbers were 229 carries for 1,524 yards (6.7) with a long run of 50 and 20 TD’s He rushed for 1697 yards and scored 21 touchdowns in 2016.
