Bulldogs take care of business at Bryan County, up next Benedictine and a showdown for 1st in Region 2

It could have been a trap game. Undefeated Toombs County at winless Bryan County prior to a Thursday home match up with undefeated Benedictine which just happens to be the defending GHSA Class AA State Champions. However, instead of messing around in Pembroke, the Dawgs came out and shut out the Redskins for 43 minutes in a 42-7 victory which moved TCHS to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the region.

Playing without senior running back Jeidon Sistrunk, who was relegated to the bench due to an injury, the Bulldogs scored five rushing touchdowns and one passing TD. Keshawn Morgan scored four touchdowns on runs of 6, 16, 3 and 37-yards. Dalton McBride went up and over the line the scrimmage on a 2-yard touchdown run and he threw his first TD pass of his senior season on a 4-yard toss to D.J. Matthews.

First Touchdown- 5 plays, 42- yards- The Bulldog defense opened the game smothering the Redskin running game on the first two plays and then Bryan threw an incomplete pass. A short punt set up the Dawgs at the BC 42. After an incomplete pass, McBride ran for 19-yards and a first down. The Bulldogs were penalized 5-yards for illegal procedure and then Morgan ran for 15 and first down. Alex Hunt carried the ball for 2-yards and Morgan ran for 6-yards and a touchdown.

Second Touchdown- 3 plays, 53 yards- The Bulldogs started their drive late in the first quarter and finished it early in the second. McBride faked a handoff to Morgan and ran for 7-yards. On the first play of the second quarter Dalton threw a pass toward the Bulldog sideline. Jaquail Boyd made an adjustment and caught the ball at the 16 for a gain of 30-yards and a first down. His second longest catch of the season. On the next play McBride pitched to Morgan and Keshawn broke a tackle at the 6 and ran it in for a 16-yard score.

Third Touchdown- 8 plays, 72 yards-The Bulldogs drove a long field with two completed passes and five running plays. McBride completed a 3-yard pass to Adam Edwards and then Dalton ran for 10 and a first down. Morgan ran for 6 and Dalton tried to hit Edwards again, but the pass was incomplete. Morgan ran for 18-yards and a first down. McBride connected with Boyd on a 26-yard pass and Keshawn finished the drive with two 6-yard runs, the last for the TD.

Fourth Touchdown- 7 plays, 49 yards- After a three an out the Redskins punted to their 49 giving the Bulldogs the short field with 2:00 left in the first half. Morgan ran for 8 and BC took a timeout. McBride completed a 30-yard pass to Lynn for a first down. McBride ran for 10 and another first down and then he stepped out of bounds. Morgan ran for 6 and no yards and then McBride finished the 1:36 drive with a 4-yard TD pass to Matthews.

Fifth Touchdown- 7 plays, 50 yards- Chandler Lynn opened the second half with a 27-yard kickoff return from the 23 to the 50-yard line. The drive began with an incomplete pass and then Morgan took over running for 12, 7, 15 and 9-yards and collected three Dawg first downs. McBride was stopped on his first carry and then on his second. on a 3rd down and one play. he went up in the air and scored his fifth rushing TD.

Sixth Touchdown- 4 plays, 65 yards- TCHS started at it’s 35 and BC was penalized 5-yards for being offsides. McBride completed a 2-yard pass to Edwards. Morgan ran for 9 and a first down and then he caught his first pass of the season gaining 11-yards and picking up another first down. Keshawn broke a tackle 3-yards down field and he pulled away and finally was brought down crossing the goal line for his fourth touchdown of the night and the ninth of the season on a 37-yard run.
