A late afternoon storm shut down a Toombs County High School junior varsity, 6th grade Toombs County Middle School football doubleheader after just a half of junior varsity play with Pierce County on top 14-7. The 6th grade game against Vidalia will be rescheduled.
Pierce County opened up a quick 14-0 lead as the Bears scored on two big plays the first two times they touched the football. Pierce ran the opening kickoff back 75-yards for a touchdown in the first 11 seconds.
On Pierce County’s first offensive play the Bears scored on a 65-yard pass play to take a 14-0 with 4:43 to play in the first quarter.




The Bulldogs made three trips into the red zone in the first half, but they only scored once. The Dawgs traveled 60-yards for their touchdown. Quarterback Trey Cloud completed a 27-yard pass to Chandler Lynn down to the 13-yard line and then Alex Hunt got to the edge and broke a tackle at the 3-yard line and scored on a 13-yard run with 4:00 minutes to play in the second quarter.
