Hurricane Irma may be long gone, but her Monday Southeast Georgia visit has altered the sports schedule for the week. The Toombs County Bulldog football game at Bryan County has been rescheduled and will be played on October 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Pembroke. Both schools canceled classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. That October 6th date is an open week for all the Region 2 teams.
So, now the Bulldogs will play seven straight weeks and the Region 2 games will be Bacon County (home), Jeff Davis (away), Bryan County (away), Benedictine (home), Metter (home), Vidalia (away) and Swainsboro (home). The Dawgs, after opening the season with wins over East Laurens and Twiggs County, took a week off and beat Telfair County last Friday and now they have another off week.
Benedictine Coach Danny Britt announced on Wednesday on his school’s Facebook page, “We plan to practice Wednesday from 4-6:30 p.m. and Thursday from 4-6:30 p.m., and play Friday night in Swainsboro at 7:30 p.m. as scheduled.”
The other scheduled Region 2 games appear to be on- Bacon County at Jeff Davis and Vidalia at Metter.
