In 2013 their brothers, each named Hunter, were stroking plenty of hits for a Toombs County baseball team which made it all the way to the Elite 8. On August 22, 2017 in Metter, freshman Ashtyn Braddy and senior Amber Braddock, batting first and second in the TCHS lineup, were the only two Lady Bulldogs who were able to reach base against hard throwing pitcher Madison Spivey In Metter’s 9-1 five inning victory..
Spivey, a junior, has been pitching for Metter High since her rookie season and the right-hander throws in the upper 50’s and has topped out at 62 miles per hour which is fast for high school ball. Both Braddy and Braddock said she was the fastest pitcher they had ever faced.
Braddy, who grounded out her first trip to the plate, placed a perfect bunt down the first base line to lead off the fourth inning and with her speed she reached on Toombs County’s first hit and then she stole second base to get into scoring position for Braddock. Amber, who struck out the first time she faced Spivey, shot a ball past second base to score Ashtyn on a head first slide.
