17 is the winning number in Swainsboro and Lyons

What are the odds that two softball games involving two Toombs County teams would be decided with the winning team scoring 17 runs? Perhaps 17-1. Whatever the answer is it actually happened. The Toombs County High School Lady Bulldogs won a three hour game 17-14 in Swainsboro and the Toombs County Middle School Lady Bullpups lost a long six inning game to Collins 17-13 in Lyons. Both Toombs County teams are 1-2.

Five TCHS freshman combined for 11 hits. Ashtyn Braddy and Harley Hester each had four hits, Rilyn Fitzgerald and Jesslyn Smith two and Amya Bullard one.

Lily Keairns led the TCMS offense with three hits and four runs batted in. Lily singled in a run, tripled in a run and doubled in a pair with three hard hit balls to left field. Keairns scored on her triple on a Collins error.
