The last time the Lyons Flea Boys trailed an opponent several innings into a game was in the Lyons Youth Tournament. The opposition was Vidalia and Lyons eventually pulled away and won 10-3. Those same two rivals met for the District 1 Championship at Ed Smith Complex in Lyons and after two innings Lyons trailed 2-1. However, the boys did it again, they started hitting deep line drives and they raced away to an 18-4 victory by scoring five runs in the third inning and nine in the sixth.
The Lyons defense had not allowed a run in 10 straight innings coming into the championship. Vidalia broke that string scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning. In the four district games the Lyons All Stars outscored their opponents 63-5. In the Lyons Youth Tourney these 7 and 8 year old boys outscored their opponents 81-10. So, heading into the GRPA State Tournament Lyons has tallied 144 runs and yielded 15 in these two big tourneys.
