It took two extra days to finish the 55th annual Lyons Youth Tournament. Rain washed out action on both Monday and Tuesday. So, on Wednesday the Lyons Mite Boys had to win four games to win the championship. The Boys won their first three knocking off Vidalia 15-5, Wayne County 9-7 and Appling County 16-12. However, in a second game with Appling Lyons fell behind 14-0 after the top of the first inning and Appling won the big trophy with an 18-5 victory.
There were plenty of homers hit on Field 2. Jesus Quintero hit four homers to lead the Lyons sluggers. Quintero hit two against Vidalia and one each against Wayne and Appling. Tray Harris smacked three long ones- one each against Vidalia, Wayne and Appling. Kip Mosley hit a long homer over the right field fence against Vidalia and a three-run shot against Appling. Gage Brantley hit a two-run and a three run home run in his first two at bats against Appling.
