Twin City outhomers and outscores the Lyons Midget Boys at Little Fenway

In a game which featured three home runs, the Twin City Midget Boys smashed two shots over the Green Monster while Lyons hit one over the right field fence. The boys from Emanuel County scored in every frame of the four inning game to win 12-2 in the opening round of the Lyons Youth Tournament.

The first four hitters in the Twin City lineup went 10-for-13 with two homers, two doubles and eight RBI. Lawson Mercer (3-for-3 with four RBI) stroked a line drive homer over the Green Monster in the first inning. Peanut Robertson smashed a high fly home run over the Monster in the second inning as Twin City built up a 6-0 lead.

After Bryson Stanley walked to lead off the third inning, Will Watts followed with what he described as a late swing. The ball sailed over the fence in right field to cut the Twin City lead to 6-2. Twin City scored two runs in the bottom of the third and four more in the fourth to win by the run-rule.

Both teams entered the LYT coming off tourney championships. Lyons won a tournament in Soperton by winning three straight games over Telfair, Appling and Dodge. Lyons smashed Dodge 11-1 in the championship game. Twin City won 7-of-9 games to take the Firecracker Tournament in Statesboro.
