Lyons Junior Girls rally falls three runs short

For five innings Hawkinsville pitching shutout the Lyons Junior Girls in the championship game of the 55th annual Lyons Youth Tournament. The suddenly, like these girls have done many times including in a winners bracket game on Saturday against the same team, Lyons started a comeback in the bottom of  the final inning. The girls scored four runs in the sixth. However, Lyons needed seven runs to win the big trophy as Hawkinsville claimed the title with a 6-4 win.

Ashtyn Braddy led off the sixth inning with a single and scored the first Lyons run on a double by Tori Wright. Harley Hester drove in Wright with a single and Rileigh Robinson singled to put runners on first and second. Alli Taufman (2-for-3), who was the only Lyons batter to stroke multiple hits in the game, singled in a run and Rilyn Fitzgerald drove in the final run with a base hit to left field.

Braddy pitched all six innings and allowed six hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
