On the second and final day of the Georgia Dugout Senior All State Tournament at Georgia College in Milledgeville the Southeast team, featuring D.R. Meadows and George Lucke representing Toombs County High School, tied the Northwest team at 12-all and then defeated the Southwest team 11-9. The Southeast squad went 1-1-1 which included an 8-5 loss on Friday to Northeast.
Southeast trailed Northwest 11-1 when Meadows entered the game in the third inning taking over at second base. D.R. hit a pair of singles and scored each time and then in the seventh he walked and scored the 12th and final run. Lucke played the first three innings and walked and was hit by a pitch.
In the victory over Southwest, Meadows and Lucke entered the game in the fourth inning at second base and center field respectively. D.R. walked his first time up and then later in the game he drove in the game-winning run with a base hit up the middle.
D.R.’s future team wins a national championship
Back in November Meadows signed with Chipola College in Florida. On June 3 the Indians defeated San Jacinto College-North 15-6 to win the NJCAA Division 1 Championship. Chipola won 51-of-60 games in route to a second national championship to go with a title the Indians won in 2007.
