Another 8th inning walk-off victory sends the TCHS Bulldogs to the Final 4

Twice in less than a week the Toombs County Bulldogs ended a two-game sweep in the AA GHSA State Tournament with a walk-off eighth inning win on the road. In the second round, at Banks County, senior George Lucke was the hero stroking a back side single to right with one out and the bases loaded. Five days later, at Dodge County, sophomore Cole Graham came to the plate with the bases loaded and nobody out and he lined a pitch to left field to score Lane Adams giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 win and their first trip to the Final 4 in 21 seasons.

Toombs County opened the series with a 6-3 win. The Bulldogs scored single runs in the first, second, third and fourth innings and two in the fifth. D.R. Meadows pitched a complete game five-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks and he did not yield an earned run. Lane Adams pitched 7 1/3 innings for the second straight start and he allowed eight hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts and one walk in game two. Martin Stephens got the final two outs in the eight, just like he did against Banks County in game two, and for the second straight game two he was the winning pitcher.
