The Toombs County Lady Bulldogs did something that few soccer teams have done this season. They shut out Glenn Hills senior Jazmine Santiago for a half. The striker is averaging 4.2 goals per game this season and in her career she has only been shutout by two opponents. This season she has scored at least one goal in every game including six in one match and five goals in five others.
Against the Lady Bulldogs she scored two quick goals early in the second half and she assisted D.J. Bradley on the Lady Spartan’s game winner early in the second five-minute overtime period as Glenn Hills pulled out a 3-2 win in the first round of the GHSA State Tourney in Augusta. Santiago has scored 55 goals this season and 158 in her career.
The Lady Bulldogs dominated possession of the ball throughout the match and Arleni Tinoco scored her team-high 28th goal early in the first half to give TCHS a 1-0 lead. Trailing 2-1 late in the second half freshman Chrystal Morales fired in a shot from outside the 18 to tie the match at 2- her sixth goal of the season.
The Lady Bulldogs finish their season with a 13-3 record while Glenn Hills advances to the second round of the state tournament with a 16-1 record.
