The Toombs County High School junior varsity baseball team opened it’s season with a 13-2 win at Vidalia. In the rematch in Lyons the Bulldogs trailed 4-0 after four innings. However, Toombs scored three runs in the fifth and then one in the seventh to tie the game. Eighth grade center fielder Chandler Lynn scored the tying run in the seventh and drove in the game winner in the eighth.
Lynn led off the seventh inning with a single to left. He stole second base and then drew a throw, from the catcher, to that bag and it got away and Lynn scored to tie the game.
In the eighth, the bases were loaded and there was one out for Lynn. On a 3-1 pitch he was given the take sign, but he didn’t get that sign and instead he singled to left to score Alex Gordy to end the game.
