The Toombs County Middle School junior varsity baseball team broke a 2-2 tie by scoring three runs in the fifth inning as the Bullpups defeated ECI 5-4 in Lyons.
Catcher Jake Lively led the Bullpups offensive attack by going 3-for-3 with a RBI. Gage Herndon went 2-for-3 with a RBI and Bryson Jones, Landon Gupton and Mason Braddy all went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Gavin Hall also was 1-for-3.
On the mound Lucas O’Conner pitched the first four innings and allowed three hits with seven strikeouts and four walks. Hall threw 2 1/3 innings allowing one hit with three straight strikeouts all in the sixth inning and two walks and Zeke Barnett came in and recorded the final two outs inducing a pair of grounders. Each pitcher stranded a runner at third base including Barnett with the game on the line.
