The Benedictine Cadets scored three runs on one hit in the third inning and a total of five unearned runs in the sixth and seventh in an 8-1 Region 2 victory over the Toomb County Bulldogs. Benedictine improves to 3-0 in the region while the Dawgs fall to 2-1. In other region games- Bacon County beat Vidalia 5-3 and Jeff Davis nipped Swainsboro 2-0. Metter and Bryan County will play in Pembroke on Thursday and then the second game will be on Friday in Alma.
Benedictine, Bacon County and Jeff Davis are 3-0 in the region and the Bulldogs are 2-1 and everybody else is winless.
The Bulldogs had an opportunity to put up a big number in the bottom of the first inning. D.R. Meadows extended his hitting streak to five games with a leadoff single, Cole Graham reached on a bunt and then Lane Adams continued his hot streak with a double scoring Meadows. The Bulldogs had runners on second and third with no outs. However, they didn’t score another run in the inning or the game. Toombs had a runner thrown out at the plate on a grounder to third and they left runners on second and third.
