TCHS soccer teams tune up for the Vidalia Indians with two one-goal wins over the Dodge Co. Indians

The Toombs County soccer teams each raced to a 4-0 start by outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 51-4. However, in their non-region home games against Dodge County both teams were tested and each pulled out a one-goal victory. The Lady Bulldogs won 3-2 and the Bulldogs 1-0. Up next is a Tuesday doubleheader at Vidalia. The girls play at 5 p.m. and the boys at 7.

Arleni Tinoco scored two first half goals for the Lady Bulldogs on well struck accurate shots. Her first goal was scored just one minute and 52 seconds into the match. Dodge County tallied the equalizer with 19:45 to play in the half and then Tinoco scored again with 40 seconds remaining in the half.

Cindy Vera pushed the TCHS lead to 3-1 with a goal with 25:30 remaining in the match. Dodge made it a one-goal game again by kicking the ball into the net with 17:22 to play. Shortly after that Tinoco was injured when she collided with a Dodge County defender and fell to the ground on her back and head. Arleni was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and she did not suffer a concussion or have any broken bones.

The Toombs County Bulldogs had numerous scoring opportunities in the first half, but the match was scoreless at the break. Dodge County fouled the Bulldogs repeatedly giving Rig Tinoco a lot of free kick opportunities. With 17:40 to play in the game Tinoco booted the ball from 35 yards out toward Jose Cerra. The senior captain jumped up in the air and flicked the ball in the net with his right foot to break the scoreless tie.
