Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs are one win away from the state tourney

After opening the Region 2 Basketball Tournament at the Toombs County Middle School Gym both Toombs County High School basketball teams are one win away from qualifying for the GHSA State Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs knocked off Bacon for a third time this season 44-20 and the Bulldogs did the same to Bryan County 61-56.

On Wednesday at 7 p.m. the Lady Bulldogs will play Jeff Davis and then at 8:30 the Bulldogs take on Bacon County. Win that game and you move on to the state tourney and also the region semifinals.

Also on Wednesday the Metter Girls will play Bryan County at 4 p.m. and the Vidalia Boys meet Metter at 5:30.

In other day one action- the Metter Boys beat Benedictine on a buzzer beating shot and the Metter Girls defeated St. Vincent’s 51-41.

Jocelyn Walker led the TCHS girls with 10 points, Dominique Jones scored 9, Christina Mobley and Shakevia Knight each 8, Joann Gomez 5 and Diamond Logan and Ashunti Campbell 2.

The Bulldogs were led by their two senior post players. Alex Blount scored 14 and L.J. Sims 13. Tyrese Lewis scored 14, Ermias Fisser had 9, Karis Harden 7 and Jaquail Boyd and Raekwon Williams 2.
