The Toombs County High School basketball teams swept the Savannah schools in two contrasting type games. The Lady Bulldogs played one of their best games of the season and defeated St. Vincent’s 55-44 in Lyons after losing to the Saints by 15 in Savannah.
The Bulldogs were playing their first game without D.R. Meadows, who is out for three or four weeks with an ankle injury. The Dawgs pulled out their victory in the final six seconds when L.J. Sims followed his own missed 14-footer with a layup to give TCHS a 50-49 win over Benedictine.
The Lady Bulldogs expanded a 26-25 halftime lead into double digits thanks to the second half scoring of Christine Mobley. The junior scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half. Shakevia Knight added 14 and Jocelyn Walker, Dominique Jones and JoAnn Gomez each scored 7.
Jalen Mobley hit two 3-pointers and scored 16 points, Ermias Fisser also made two three’s and scored 10, Sims had 8, Tyrese Lewis 6, Austin Ellis and Alex Blount 4 and Montrey Williams 2.
