Bulldogs soar in the 1st half and hold on in the second

The Toombs County Bulldogs scored 48 points in the first half of their non-region game at Pierce County and then in the second half they only tallied 28 as a 25 point third quarter lead turned to a single digit advantage. However, the Bulldogs did hold on to a 76-64 victory to improve to 9-5.

In a free flowing game the TCHS sank four 3-pointers in both the first and second quarters. Four Dawgs made two 3-balls each in the first two quarters. D.R. Meadows, who led Toombs with 20 points, hit a 3-pointer in the first quarter and he ended the half with a long three right before the buzzer. Meadows also swished two third quarter 3-balls and he was 6-of-6 at the line and made all four of his fourth quarter free shots.

Jaylen Mobley knocked down two second quarter 3-pointers and he made one each in the third and fourth quarters and finished with 17 points. Tyrese Lewis was back in the starting lineup and the point guard opened the game with a 10 point first quarter hitting two 3’s, a two and two free throws in route to scoring a season high 13. Austin Ellis, a first year Dawg as a senior, also made two 3-pointers as the Bulldogs hit 12 long balls in the game.

The Lady Bulldogs lost 44-23 and Jocelyn Walker made three 3-pointers and free throw to lead the way with 10 points. Shakevia Knight chipped in 6 points, Dominique Jones 4 and Christine Mobley 3 as the Lady Bulldogs fell to 5-8.
