Lady Dawgs beat Jenkins County, Bulldogs lose to the Eagles

Back on November 26 the Toombs County High School basketball teams swept Jenkins County in Lyons. The Lady Bulldogs won by 13 and the Dawgs by 16. In the rematch. on a neutral floor in the Metter Tournament, the Lady Bulldogs won 31-26 while the Bulldogs lost 66-62.

The two girls teams played the first 9 1/2 minutes of their game without committing a foul. Christine Mobley, who scored 8 points, shot all four first half free throws and she made two as the Lady Bulldogs built up a 17-12 lead at half. Jocelyn Walker led TCHS with 12 points. The senior dominated the glass leading both teams in rebounding and offensively she hit a 3-pointer and was 3-for-4 at the free throw line. Shakevia Knight scored 5 points, Dominique Jones 4 and Calvnika Davis 2. The Lady Bulldogs are 5-7.

Bulldogs lose to a Single A team after beating 6A Bradwell Institute

The Bulldogs handled the basketball well in the first quarter and they led 14-10. However, in the second quarter TCHS started turning the ball over and Jenkins won the quarter 21-11 to take a 31-25 at half. Jenkins led 45-44 after three quarters.

The two teams made a combined 16 3-pointers and the Dawgs sank nine of them. Jaylen Mobley, who led the Bulldogs with 24 points, swished five 3-balls. D.R. Meadows made three long ones and scored 16 points. Meadows tallied 13 points in the second half. Montrey Williams (3 points) also knocked down a 3-pointer. L.J. Sims dealt with foul trouble for a second straight game and scored 13 points, Alex Blount had 4 and Tyrese Lweis 2. The Bulldogs are 8-5.
