The Toombs County Bulldogs first game, after an eight day Christmas break, was against 6A Bradwell Institute on a neutral floor at Metter. The Tigers had already beaten Savannah High by 28 points, Camden County by 24 and Long County by 32.
Bradwell outscored Toombs County 28-16 in the third quarter to open up a 10 point lead an a 62-54 advantage going to the fourth quarter. However, the final eight minutes is when the Bulldogs pulled out their 79-76 win. TCHS is 8-4 and Bradwell drops to 5-5.
Jaylen Mobley led the Bulldogs with 25 points. The senior hit four 3-pointers and he scored 19 first half points. In the fourth quarter he followed up a Dawg miss to put TCHS up for good at 73-72 with 2:44 to play.
D.R. Meadows scored 22 points and he tossed in eight points in the final period making 6-of-8 free throws. Tyrese Lewis scored nine of his 11 in the fourth period by knocking down two 3-balls, scoring a bucket and hitting a free throw. Ermias Fisser added 8 points, L.J. Sims fouled out with 5, Alex Blount scored 4 and Karis Harden and Jaquail Boyd 2.
The Lady Bulldogs lost to Bradwell by a 58-39 score. Dominique Jones led TCHS with 13 points. Jocelyn Walker swished three 3-pointers and scored 12 points, Diamond Logan had five, Christine Mobley 4, Shakevia Knight 3 and Ashunti Campbell 2.
