The Toombs County Lady Bulldogs were down to only seven players for their Region 2 home opener against Jeff Davis. Starters JoAnn Gomez and Dominique Jones were both missing their second game after being ejected at Metter plus Ashunti Campbell didn’t dress out due to an injury. Despite Jocelyn Walker’s 17 point game which included five 3-pointers the Lady Bulldogs lost 55-38. Christine Mobley scored 11 points, Shakevia Knight 8 and Diamond Logan 2. The Lady Bulldogs are 2-4 overall and 0-2 in Region 2.
In the second game of the evening former Toombs County head basketball coach Donnie Arrington’s Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets turned a 24-24 tie at half into a 58-48 Jacket victory. 6-4 freshman JaQueze Kirby scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half helping JD open up a double-digit lead.
D.R. Meadows scored all 10 of his points in the second half helping the Bulldogs to cut the Jeff Davis lead down to four. Jalen Mobley led TCHS with 12 points, L.J. Sims had 11, Tyrese Lewis 8, Montrey Williams 4 and Alex Blount 3. Meadows hit two 3-balls and Mobley and Lewis had one each.
At the free throw line Jeff Davis made 11-of-14 shots while the Bulldogs were 8-of-19. TCHS is 5-2 overall and 0-2 in the region.
