There were two very exciting football games played at the Toombs County Middle School Field. The Lyons Recreation Department’s Falcons and Colts each pulled out victories in the final seconds. Joshua Howard scored on a run of more than 40 yards with just 14 seconds remaining in the game to lift the Falcons to a 6-0 win over the Cowboys.
In a fantastic back and forth game the Colts remained undefeated with a 13-12 victory over the Steelers. All the touchdowns were scored in the final eight minutes. Deon Moore scored on a long with 7:36 to play to put the Colts up 6-0. The conversion failed. With 3:02 left the Steelers scored on a long run to tie the game at 6. Next the Steelers recovered a Colts fumble and scored on another run to take a 12-6 lead with 1:02 to go. Both Steeler one-point conversion efforts were no good.
The Colts pulled out their victory with an even longer run by Moore, with 37 seconds left on the clock, to tie the score at 12-all. Fullback Kaden Marsh broke the tie by crossing the goal line for the one-point conversion.
