
On a perfect night for high school football the Toombs County Bulldogs played a sensational first half scoring 21 first quarter points and 14 more in the second quarter and when it came time to announce the homecoming queen and princess the Dawgs were leading Jeff Davis 35-0. TCHS scored two second half TD’s and held on to their first shutout since September 28, 2012 when the blanked coincidentally Jeff Davis. That score was 41-0 and this shutout was even more dominant as the 2016 Bulldogs whipped the Yellow Jackets 49-0. The 21 first quarter points were the most in a TCHS opening quarter since September 29, 2012 when the Dawgs also scored 21 in a road win at Jeff Davis.

Keshawn Morgan pushed his rushing stats way over 1,000 yards scoring three rushing touchdowns and a third on a interception and a long return. Quarterback Dalton McBride scored two rushing touchdowns and Jeidon Sistrunk broke tackle after tackle and scored the Bulldogs final TD.
Morgan ran for 196 yards giving the junior 1188 for the season an average of 198 yards per game. Sistrunk rushed for 103 yards.
First touchdown- The Bulldogs opened the game defensively by tackling the quarterback for a six-yard loss and forcing JD to punt on fourth down and nine. Toombs started at the Dawg 48 and it took four plays to score their third straight first quarter touchdown of the season. Sistrunk ran the ball for seven and two yards and then Morgan entered the game and he picked up a first down on a four-yard run and then on the next play he raced 38 yards down the Bulldog sideline and in to the south end zone for six. Rig Tinoco drilled his first of seven PAT’s as TCHS took a 7-0 lead with eight minutes to play in the first quarter.


Second touchdown- On their second possession the Yellow Jacket were tackled two straight times behind the line of scrimmage. On the second one the Jackets coughed up the ball and Toombs recovered at the JD 14. This scoring drive took only three plays with McBride running for all the yardage from his QB position. He ran for nine and then scored the touchdown on a four yard run to the outside to give the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead with 6:08 to play in the fist quarter.


Third touchdown- The Yellow Jackets third possession ended with the Bulldogs scoring a touchdown. The drive begin with a TFL seven yards behind the line of scrimmage at the 13. JD completed two passes for 13 and 21 yards and picked up two first downs. However, on first and 10 at the Dawg 48 Morgan, from his safety position read the pass play and picked off the throw and ran it 58 yards down the Bulldog sideline for his second TD of the game. With 3:50 to play in the first quarter TCHS had a 21-0 lead.


Fourth touchdown- Jeff Davis and TCHS both ran three plays and punted. TCHS punter Lane Adams bombed a 40-yard punt which was fumbled and the Bulldogs recovered at the JD 37. Morgan scored his third touchdown of the game on the next play. The 37 yard run , up the center of the field, made it 28-0 Dawgs with 11:41 to play in the first half.

Fifth touchdown- On their second possession of the second quarter the Bulldogs picked up a first down on a fourth and two run by Morgan. However, on a second fourth down play Toombs was denied a first down. The Jackets ran four plays and were stopped on fourth and three. So, TCHS took over at it’s 39 and it took 10 plays to score. Sistrunk ran for 21 yards on four carries and Morgan 31 on four. The Dawgs collected four first downs on the 61 yard drive and McBride scored on a nine-yard run with 30 seconds remaining in the half to give his team a 35-0 lead at half.



Sixth touchdown- Toombs took the second half kickoff and drove 60 yards in eight plays and scored on a 17-yard run by Morgan. Keshawn carried the ball six times on the drive for 47 yards. McBride ran twice for first downs on gains of three and nine yards. With 6:37 to play in the third quarter TCHS had a 42-0 lead.

Seventh touchdown- This seven play 67 yard drive featured some more tough running. Morgan picked up a first down on a nine-yard run and Sistrunk carried the ball four times for 52 yards and he scored on an amazing 41 yard run in which he broke numerous tackles plowing down th Bulldog sideline and eventually in to the south end zone. There was a flag on the play, but the penalty was against Jeff Davis. With 9:25 to play in the game the Dawgs were through scoring and they had a 49-0 lead.
