With St. Vincent’s playing a non region schedule, Toombs County and Harlem were both undefeated volleyball teams entering a September 13 showdown in Lyons. Both teams were coming off victories. TCHS defeated Butler 25-13 and 25-6 and Tech Charter 25-6 and 25-12 and prior to that action the Net Dawgs split four matches in a round robin tournament at New Hampstead. Toombs beat Woodville-Thompkins (Savannah) 25-17 and New Hampstead 25-14, 19-25 and 15-8 and lost to Cocoa Beach (Florida) 25-15 and 25-16 and Liberty 25-23 and 25-17.

The much taller Harlem team, featuring some tough servers, won in two sets 25-6 and 25-12. In the second set the Net Dawgs got off to a good start and opened up a 6-2 lead and the match was tied at 8 before Harlem took control winning 17 of the final 21 points. With the victory Harlem is 8-7 overall and 6-0 in Area 2. The Net Dawgs are 11-4 and 6-1.
