
The Toombs County Lady Bullpups trailed 10-1 after the top of the third in their season opening game against Collins in Lyons. Instead of accepting defeat the girls listened to coach Neal Salter and started hitting the ball. “He just told us to wait on the ball and get in the back of the box and just drive the ball,” said Ashtyn Braddy who scored the first TCMS run and the last one as well. In the seventh inning Braddy reached on a fielder choice, stole second and moved to third on a single by Emma Salter. Becca Herndon hit a swinging bunt to score Ashtyn with the game-winning run in a 12-11 victory.


Salter, who drove in the first run for the Lady Bullpups with an opposite field single to right, came in from right field to pitch when Toombs trailed by nine run. She held the Bobcats to just one run and was the winning pitcher in her first game with the A-Team.

The Lady Bullpups began their rally in the fifth inning and and took an 11-10 lead. Collins tied the game in the sixth and Salter kept the Bobcats off the scoreboard in the top of the seventh.

Lily Mosley led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. Jesslyn Smith had a big game going 3-for-4 with two triples.
Braddy pitched the first two innings. She allowed an unearned run in the first and stranded the bases loaded in the second.
