The Toombs County competition cheerleading team has been practicing all summer to get ready for the 2016 season. Last year the Cheer Dawgs saved their best effort for the Region 1 AAA competition in Statesboro. The girls scored 244 point and finished third sending them to Columbus for state competition.  slideshow

In 2016 TCHS will compete in AA in Region 2. The Cheer Dawgs return three seniors- Kara Hayes, Bricyn Fitzgerald and Cheyenne Kelley. Hayes, the team’s best tumbler was chosen out of a pool of over 200 cheerleaders, from all classifications, to be one of 40 to compete for GCCA Cheerleader of the Year. On August 6 she traveled to Columbus State, with her stunt group, for the competition. Unfortunately, she did not make the top 16. The Cheerleader of the Year will be announced at the GHSA Cheerleading State Championships in November.

The team also includes two juniors- Lauren Floyd and Brooke Morris, four sophomores- Shanne Fitzgerald, Divoria Gaffney, Emma Lucke and Maggie Wright and six freshman- Kiley Banks, McKenzie Grimes, Sarah Kelly, Cailey McCorkle, Madi Mimbs and Carlie Partin. The flyers are Brooke Morris, Emma Lucke and McKenzie Grimes.

This season the Cheer Dawgs will seek higher scores with more difficult tumbling passes and other more challenging elements.

The Cheer Dawgs are coached by Kate Parker and she is assisted by Caroline Genereux.
