Lyons Junior Boys open up Y-101’s coverage of the 54th Lyons Youth Tournament

On Thursday at 7 p.m. the Lyons Junior Boys will play Long County on Field 3 at Partin Park as Y-101 Radio begins it’s 10th year of broadcasting play-by-play of the Lyons Youth Tournament. This will be the first LYT not under the direction of Anson Callaway, who retired last summer. James McGowan succeeded Calloway in October. Listen on Mixlr

Joining Lyons in the 13-14 year old LYT bracket are Telfair County and Wayne County and those two play Thursday at 1 p.m., Swainsboro and Montgomery County meet at 3 and Appling County at Vidalia start at 5. Jeff Davis is also in the bracket and those boys will play the winner of the Telfair/Wayne game on Friday at 1 p.m.

The Lyons Juniors tuned up for the tourney with splitting with  Swainsboro on Tuesday at Partin Park. In the first game Chandler Lynn pitched Lyons to a 1-0 victory. In the second game Brandon Dennis hit a ball to deep center and drove in a pair of runs, but Swainsboro pulled out a 5-4 win. Watch Highlights

Members of the 2016 Lyons Junior Boys team are Bryce Braddy, Jaden Carroll, Trey Cloud, Justin Dees, Brandon Dennis, Alex Gordy, Luke Hattaway, Chandler Lynn, Chase Miller, Wesley Morris, Chase Musselman, Austin Price, Devonte Willis.

In other action the Lyons Mite Boys went undefeated and won the Soperton Tournament beating Vidalia 25-12 in the championship game. The Lyons Flea Boys finished second dropping the championship game 14-13 to Dodge County in eight innings. The Lyons Midget Boys placed second in a tourney in Appling County and the Lyons Mite Girls also finished second in a tournament.
