On February 16th the Toombs County Junior Varsity baseball team rallied from a 9-3 deficit to win at Appling County 13-9. In the rematch on April 4, in Lyons, the Dawgs trailed 6-1 after 4 1/2 innings. However, TCHS rallied with a five run fifth to tie the game at 6. In the top of the 11th inning the Pirates scored a run with two outs to win the three hour and 46 minute game 7-6.
A defensive play may have sparked the Bulldog comeback. Left fielder Dalton Lynn caught a fly ball in left and threw out a Pirate at home plate to end the top of the fifth. Lynn led off the bottom of the inning with a single. Jalen Mobley singled in a pair of runs and Cole Graham hit a grounder that plated another Dawg,
Graham pitched five innings of shutout ball from the fifth through the ninth innings. He allowed only two hits and struck out four batters and walked three.
The Bulldogs left a runner at third base in the ninth inning and the final out of the game was made between third and home as a Bulldog was trying to score on a wild pitch.
