Ricardo Santana finishes third in first state tourney

Toombs County Bulldog freshman wrestler Ricardo Santana finished third in his first trip to the GHSA Wrestling State Championships, in the Infinite Energy Arena in Gwinnett County. Santana pinned Rockmart’s¬†Truett Bowman 23 seconds into the second period in the AAA 113 pound third place match. TCHS Bulldogs beat Metter in a scrimmage

The Toombs County baseball team opened the season with a 7-3 scrimmage victory at Metter. The game featured only nine total hits and 21 combined walks. Seven Bulldog wrestlers are going to state

Seven Toombs County Bulldog wrestlers have survived the grueling, two-day GHSA Class 3A -A Sectional in Madison and have qualified for the state tourney. That number compares favorably to the past. Nine Bulldogs qualified for state in 2010-11, eight in 2008-09 and seven in both 2007-08 and 2011-12. Junior guard D.R. Meadows opened the 2015-16 Toombs County Bulldog season scoring 27 points in a home game against Montgomery County and he closed the the regular season tossing in 26 at Southeast Bulloch. Cruz Arredondo, Ricardo Santana, Justin Hall, Nathan Belch and Ervin Mincey have all won their first two matches at the GHSA Class 3A -A Sectional in Madison and have qualified for the state tourney. Gage Clark, Sebastian McKee, Deven Matthews, Luke Anderson and Carson Roberts are all 1-1 and will have to move through the consolation bracket to qualify for state.
