After a series of cancellations the Toombs County soccer teams finally got to play at home in a Region 1 AAA match up against Brantley County. The girls game was played on a dry field while the second half of the boys match was effected by a heavy downpour.
The Bulldogs, who opened the season with a 1-0 overtime region victory at Pierce County, improved to 2-0 with a 10-2 victory over the Herons. Lupe Roman scored the game-winner in Blackshear collecting a loose ball off a free kick and firing it into the back of the net. Jose Cerros led TCHS in the home win by scoring six goals. Eddie Zamorano chipped in two goals and Gerry Tinoco and Ricardo Santana each had one.
The Lady Bulldogs, who were shutout 6-0 at Pierce County, rebounded with a 9-0 win over Brantley. TCHS scored seven goals in the first half. Catherine Domingo, Gloria Zamorano and Arleni Tinoco each scored two goals. Ansley Tatum scored on a header off a corner kick. Danny Landeros and Maribel Hernandez also each scored a goal.
