TCMS basketball teams getting closer to winning

Neither the Toombs County Middle School Lady Bullpups or Bullpups have won a game this season in five tries. However, both teams are getting closer to doing so. In a home MGMSAA match up with Dodge County both were in the game until the end. Dodge won the girls game 33-28 and the boys game 31-22. Watch a slideshow

The Toombs County Lady Bullpups, who haven’t tasted a victory in years, trailed Dodge by only three points at half, 18-15. Diamond Logan led the Lady Bullpups with 14 points.

Dodge, which had a 14-12 at half of the boys game, trailed twice in the third quarter. Tyreike Butler, who scored 11 points, put TCMS up 16-15 with 4:33 left in the quarter and 18-17 with 2:2o remaining, with inside buckets. Dodge countered with the shooting of Johnson, who scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half. He nailed two 3-pointers and hit 2-of-3 at the free throw line.

The Warriors, who led 22-20 after three quarters, outscored TCMS 9-2 in the fourth quarter. Maleke Day scored three points and Drekari Jones, T.Y. Myrick, Brandon Usher and Josh Jackson each scored two points for TCMS.
