After four losses in winnable games, the Toombs County Bulldogs won their first game of the season in convincing style over visiting Pierce County. The Dawgs shot 2-pointers, 3-pointers and free throws well and they defended just fine in a 69-41 victory.
D.R. Meadows reeled off three third quarter 3-balls and led TCHS with 15 points. Jordan Usher scored seven points in each half and finished with 14, Keshawn Morgan hit 7-of-11 free throws and tallied 13 and Jalen Mobley dropped in two 3-pointers for his 12. Tyrese Lewis hit a three and scored five points and Alex and Gonza Blount each scored two.
The Lady Bulldogs spent the whole night coming back from a 13-3 first quarter deficit. Dominique Jones (17 points) hit a short shot with four seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 43 and sent it to overtime. The Lady Bears prevailed in the extra four minute session and won 53-48. Demetria Jones scored 15 points and Shakevia Knight had seven. Watch a slideshow
