Toombs County is moving down to Double A

Toombs County High School athletics spent 18 consecutive seasons in class AA in GHSA- from the 1996 football season through 2014 spring season. For the 2014-15 school year TCHS was reclassified as a AAA school and was one of the smallest with 831 students. The competition for all the sports teams was very challenging against larger schools in Region 1 like Pierce County (1085 students), Appling County (1005) and Brantley County (968).

Well, finally there is some good news for Toombs County sports, the Bulldogs are going back to Double A. In the latest GHSA reclassification TCHS was credited with 839 students meaning the school will be the ninth largest AA school. Pepperell is the largest Double A  with 869, Jeff Davis is second at 867 and Southwest third at 866.

Schools will be placed in regions on December 1 and there are plenty of options for Toombs County. All these current or former region foes will be in Double A.
