Debra O’Neal, Office Manager for Veterans Field Service, visited Y-101 Radio to talk about the first ever Toombs County Veterans Day Parade to be held in Lyons on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. Click for registration form 2015 VETERANS DAY PARADE  The deadline to register is September 1.

Please complete Parade Application and return as indicated on the form. Make sure to include a brief description of your entry for the announcer. Once application is filled out and returned, you will receive the parade line-up instructions, the number for line-up and a map of the parade route in a packet. Please include an address to mail the packet to or a good contact number so that we can reach you at to get the information packet to you. Please bring the map and number for line-up with you on the day of the parade. In case of bad weather, the parade will be rescheduled to Saturday November 14th.

Day of parade

Start time-Parade begins promptly at 11:00 am

Parade Line-up – 9:00 am – Please follow the map to where the parade will line up and there will be someone there to help you find where you need to go.

Absolutely no throwing of any item:

You may not throw candy of any kind from floats, vehicles, or cycles during the parade due to the safety of the crowd.


All performing units will be required to be in full performance for the duration of the parade unless directed by staff to stop for a minute on HWY 280 to shoot cannons.


Intervals of 50 feet required between units.

Complete Parade Route

All units are required to complete parade route.


You will be setting up in the upper parking lot next to the Callaway Center in Partin Park in Lyons. You will need to set up around 11:30 am and there will be someone to direct you where to set up at. You may set up early so that you can watch the parade, please be sure someone will be there at your table/booth when parade ends. We will be having a ceremony and luncheon in Callaway Center for the veterans and their dependents as soon as the floats, vehicles and all participants in the parade have unloaded. The veterans will have time before the luncheon and after the luncheon to look at your information on your tables or any services you are providing. There will be Vendors selling food and drink items downtown Lyons in the parking lot across from City Hall near The Market store which is on the corner of HWY 292 and Broad Street during the parade and after. You may bring a canopy to set up for your information booth.
