It is time for a new season of Toombs County Lady Bulldog softball with a new head coach. Long time TCHS baseball coach Brian Fitzgerald has dropped football as his fall sport to coach the Lady Bulldogs. The team spent the month of July practicing and playing games and now it is time for the real action beginning with an August 7th home game against Portal which will begin at 5:30 p.m. Slideshow

The Lady Bulldogs return a veteran infield. Senior Ansley Tatum, when she isn’t pitching, is back at third base. Senior Abigail Lynn, who was voted second team All-Region 1 AAA in 2014, returns at shortstop. On the right side of the infield Amanda Powell returns to play second and Courtney Moore at first. Megan Dukes moves from the outfield, where she played last season, back to her longtime position behind the plate. She will be catching a pitching staff that includes Tatum, last season’s number two pitcher, along with Taylor Thompson, who didn’t play softball last season, and Moore, who gives the team three right-handed throwers.

In the outfield Brittney Beckum takes over in centerfield and senior Taylor Hattaway,  Kierra Williams and Aisa Shipman will be in the mix for the other two outfield positions.
